Core Values

Our Mission:   “To love God completely and our neighbor sacrificially as we disciple intentionally.”

Love God

Gospel-centered Living

We believe Jesus absorbed God’s righteous wrath against our sin and bridged the gap between the Father and us. The way to restore our hearts and our families is by turning from our self-serving lifestyles, experiencing the radical, life-changing love of God in the gospel of Jesus Christ, and becoming his followers.

Love Our Neighbor

church is the New Community

We believe that you can’t be a spectator in the body of Christ, so our communities ought to be places where people know others and are known. Through our Grace Groups, Discipleship Ministries, and Missions we want to be the church in our community, because “a neighbor close by is better than a family far away”  (Proverbs 27:10).

Disciple Intentionally

to live before the face of god

Discipleship - following Jesus - is to live before God’s face, to dwell in His presence, to be satisfied in all that He is. We follow as creatures of grace, entering into the fellowship of the triune God in whose presence there is fullness of joy, at whose right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

These values are at the core of who we are and who we endeavor to be

#1 Authority of Scripture
It is our desire at GCT to faithfully preach, teach, and obey the Word of God. We believe this is best accomplished through expositional preaching, allowing the Bible to guide the preacher rather than the preacher using Scripture to say what he wants to say. What God has said is a lot more important than what we have to say.
#2 Authentic Community
Meeting together on a Sunday morning is not, in and of itself, biblical community. Community is living life together – studying the Bible together, sharing meals together, praying together, serving together. It is in developing relationships with one another in a smaller group context that we can live out the “one anothers” of the Bible.
#3 Gospel Centeredness
The gospel is central to the Bible, so it should be central to our lives. As we follow the plot moves of the Bible – creation, fall, redemption, and restoration – we come to understand who God is, who we are, and what He has done for us through Jesus Christ. This should impact every aspect of our lives; if it does not then there’s a good chance we are daily depending on ourselves rather than Christ.
#4 Missional Living
We believe that every follower of Christ is a full-time minister of the gospel. (2 Cor. 5:18)  Rather than clutter the already busy schedule of our members with programs designed to lure people to church, we train and encourage them to simply do the activities they already do, but with gospel intentionality. After all, Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples “as you are going.” (Mk. 16:15) We believe this includes family discipleship. Not just discipleship of our families, but discipleship by our families. We believe that it is the biblical responsibility of every father/head of household to teach and model God’s Word so that each family member will grow into a mature follower of Christ. Realizing that, GCT will do all we can to equip family leaders and disciple all of our members – but we won’t usurp the role and primary responsibility of the family head in doing so.
