The Holy Spirit of God has been given to you for you to enjoy Him in prayer - Are you enjoying the Spirit of God in prayer?

July 28, 2018
Hey GCT:  I hope that you have been encouraged to be on the offensive in your spiritual battles this week knowing that you have the complete arsenal and weaponry to reign down a holy terror upon the spiritual powers of darkness that are trying to destroy your soul.  As you enjoy and trust in the complete armor of God that we have in Jesus Christ, this Sunday we will be reminded that the armor of God has no power outside of fellowship and communion with God.  His armor is empowered in our lives by the Spirit of God.  The armor is not to be thought of as a mechanical act on our part.  We cannot think that once we put on the armor we are safe so we can just relax.  The spiritual fight that we are in cannot be fought with just the armor on.  We are to put on the armor as we are PRAYING ALWAYS IN THE SPIRIT.  The fight must be fought with the armor and prayer.

GCT, we must fight to keep prayer primary in our lives.  We must see that our Christian walk must be lived spiritually!  Not mechanically.  If we put on the armor of God mechanically, by our own power, it becomes another form of legalism, something we do on our own strength that is dependent upon us and our power.  When we do this the armor is absent of the empowering grace of God delivered to us by His Spirit.  Without praying in the Spirit and being dependent upon His strength and grace the armor will be of little value.

Do you pray in the Spirit or does your prayer life live in defeat?  Are you bored with prayer?  Do you find it difficult to even pray for five minutes?  What does praying in the Spirit even mean?  How can you activate the power of the almighty God in your prayer life daily?  Our loving heavenly Father has left you His eternal power through His Holy Spirit to intercede on your behalf with groaning too deep for words. Lets be encouraged to seek how to access this power by praying in the Spirit always.

I look forward to worshipping with you this Sunday as we finish up Ephesians 6, enjoying the Spirit of God as He interceded for us.  With great love, Steve
