Believer - You are a Child of God! That is a mind blowing thought. So... Do you live like your Father is God?

April 7, 2018
Good Morning GCT:  How often do you consider your God given role as a missionary in Hampstead, NC?  The late archbishop of Canterbury, William Temple, said, “The Church is the only institution that exists primarily for the benefit of those who are not its members.”  Together, as we exist as GCT, we function together as salt of the earth and the light of the world to be strategically missional with a purpose.  We are called to be counter cultural for the common good.  This is our role as a child of God.  We must understand that we are called as children of God to live against the grain of culture for the culture’s common good.  We are children of God called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us as we live counter culture lives for the common good of Hampstead.  This is living out the Gospel as a child of God.

We will be in Ephesians 5 this Sunday looking at our identity as a child of God. Paul digs deeper into answering the question, "How shall we now live as a child of God lavished by His grace in this culture today?”  It is easy to forget that we are loved by our heavenly Father as His child.  He calls us as His children to imitate Him joyfully.  God, our Father, calls us as His children to live like Him.  He does not do this through a list of rules but through a  loving relationship of Father and child.  As a believer, you are a child of God - loved perfectly.  Your Father gives you unrestricted access to Him, the Creator.  You have flawless protection from your heavenly Father, for He is working everything according to your good.  You are an heir of your Father’s riches, you have everything you will ever need.  All of this made possible through Jesus Christ.  As you walk through life in your daily schedule, through trials and turmoil and hardships do you live and think as a loved child of God or as an abandoned orphan with no hope and promises?  Believer, you are a child of God!  I really hope to see you Sunday to look at our identity as a child of God worshipping our Father in heaven. - Love in Christ, Steve
