Spiritual Warfare - What is it?

GCT:  Spiritual warfare is what happens when Christ enlists you in His cause and equips you to join His battle of reconciling all things to Himself.  As a believer you are in a daily battle whether you acknowledge it or not.  You are wrestling against spiritual powers of darkness and the schemes of the devil (Eph. 6:11-20).  If you are depending upon your own wisdom, reasoning and strength the powers of darkness will eat you for a spiritual snack.  Do you know when you are getting spiritually devoured?  

Paul ends his letter to the Ephesians with “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might” for us to remember that this is His battle and we are His enlisted to fight with Him.  In order to take this battle to the evil powers of darkness Christ has promised His artillery, weapons, arsenal and armor so that we can withstand these spiritual attacks.  We cannot be apathetic about this war that we are engaged. You are at war!  Your children are in a war!  Your co-workers are in a battle!  The church is in combat!  What do you do… go and hide?  Or engage in an offensive campaign against evil?  Christ has called us to be in an offensive attack not defensive.  This Sunday we will be looking at this offensive spiritual arsenal that we have in Christ to guarantee victory in this battle for our souls. Please take some time and read Ephesians 6, and personalize it to your life.  Look for evidences of spiritual warfare and start the offensive battle with the weapons that Christ promises in Ephesians 6.  Strengthen yourself in the Lord and go where the darkness reigns - you will not be defeated.
