WHAT SHAPES YOU? - *WE WILL CONTINUE TO MEET AT OUR REGULAR LOCATION AT OUR REGULAR TIME UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE*

October 26, 2018
You know when God gave us the first two commandments of the Ten Commandments He assumed that we will all be worshipping something.  We all ascribe ultimate value to something.  When we ascribe ultimate value to something we are worshipping that something.  We tend to live for it.  When we do not get it we get fearful or angry, depressed, anxious, etc.  If we do get that thing we have ascribed ultimate value to we are happy and our life is worth something.  That is when worship happens.  What have you ascribed ultimate value?

Worship comes from the old english phrase - “worth shape.”  This means to be shaped by the worth of something.  Worship happens in our lives when the worth of something shapes our lives.  What is shaping you by its worth?  What have you ascribed as ultimate value in your life?   Pondering these questions help us see idols that we have a tendency to build in our lives.  I can so easy make ministry in itself ultimate value instead of my loving God.  What about work?  Or looks and health?  Fashion?  Power?  Children?  Hobbies?  Pleasure? A good name?  The list is never ending.

Sunday we will continue to look at how God has called us to worship.  He really wants to be the only attraction in our worship on Sunday morning and during the rest of the week in our lives.  Think about that, God wants to be our only attraction this Sunday morning as we come and worship.

Exodus 20:1-2 And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 “You shall have no other gods before me. 4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God...

I can’t wait to worship our awesome God with you this Sunday morning. - Steve
