You WERE darkness - Now you ARE light in the Lord

Hey GCT:  What a convicting verse, Ephesians 5:8  "...for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light."  In one verse we are reminded of how bad we were, “we were darkness” and how amazingly redeemed we are “you are now light in the Lord.”  Being light in the Lord brings power to overtake all spiritual darkness that we come in contact with.  This spiritual light, Jesus Christ, is bright!  Malachi calls this light the “sun of righteousness with healing in its wings” as he refers to to the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ.  Our spiritual condition In Christ is that bright, powerful, and hopeful.  Light always overtakes darkness.  Darkness can never stay the same when light invades it.  When light overtakes darkness it is beautiful and life is created, redemption occurs.  Spiritual light produces righteousness and overtakes the moral darkness.  Light does not sneak back into darkness to enjoy the deeds of darkness, it can’t, it is the light of the Lord.

This Sunday we are going to come together to worship our Lord Jesus Christ who has rescued us from being darkness and has made us light, His light.  Colossians 1:13-14 "He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins."
