Hello Church Family: I want to share with you how GCT has been changing during COVID so that you can minister to our body most effectively. You are the body of Christ and we have been given a tremendous opportunity for ministry!
1) If you look at the families that made up GCT on March 1, 2020, when COVID lockdowns started, we still have 27% of church members that remain quarantined from the body of Christ each week. Please remember them through phone calls, cards, texting, emails, social distanced meetings and prayers. Please, if you are ever wondering how somebody is doing because you have not seen them in a while, then that is the urging of the Holy Spirit to reach out to them. Please follow through with the Holy Spirit's directing you to minister to them. They are in need of that touch from the Church.
2) Since our reopening on May 1, 2020, we have sustained a growth of 15% new families that were not a part of us before shutdowns. Please get to know them. Get to know their kids, their families, their needs, their struggles. Welcome them with great love and honor. Be Christ to them. They want believers in their lives. They want to meet you and know you. Be the body of Christ to them.
3) Last Sunday, on top of the 15% that have been added during COVID, we had another 20% of those present who were first time visitors. That is right, 20% of everybody present Sunday were first time visitors. Did you see them? Did you get to know them? Please! Please! Let us be a church that welcomes our special guests with the same zeal and love that Jesus welcomes us with. Please come to our weekly Sunday gathering for worship with the intention to minister to someone with Christ's love. That is each of our calling as the body of Christ. The ministry opportunities to minister to people on Sundays are endless. Please, when you come on Sundays come with the intent to finding new and old and loving them.
So, really, if you are getting this email and you have been to GCT more than two weeks. 20% of those present last Sunday were newer than you. Boldly, move forward in connecting in Christ.
God is moving in Hampstead in the midst of COVID. He is doing His work as we have prayed for an awakening. Let us not miss these great opportunities to be the Church during these difficult times.
Romans 12:5 ...so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
Prayerfully, Steve
