Church family, we are part of an outpost, the Grace Community Outpost. An outpost is known as a small military camp some distance from the main force or it is also known to be a remote part of a country or kingdom. As a local church, Grace Community Church of Topsail, we are called to be a remote outpost of the Kingdom of God behind enemy lines in this world.
In our GCT outpost of the Kingdom of Christ we have been called out of darkness and transferred to this kingdom of His beloved Son (Col. 1:13). Our response to the King calling us out of the kingdom of darkness and giving us citizenship in heaven (Phil. 3:20) is to worship Him in Spirit and Truth in His outpost, living Godly lives until our glorification.
We are not "called out" to be isolated individuals in isolated individual outposts. Instead, God expects His Kingdom outposts to be a gathering of “called out” people declaring that the Kingdom of God is here in Jesus Christ (Mat.12:28).
What is our work in the GCT outpost? Our worship is the work of the outpost. Christ calls us to worship Him by declaring our allegiance to Him as King of the Kingdom. He calls us to worship Him by coming alongside one another and building one another up and urging each other unto Christ-likeness. We are to show the world what the eternal Kingdom of God is like by the experience of His "called out" ones loving one another while worshipping the King Jesus in our outpost on earth. Our outpost worship gives non-Christians a better picture of what Jesus looks like. It brings Jesus’s life-transforming kingdom work into focus through a gathering of "called out" ones.
Every time we gather as a Kingdom outpost, God’s nearness is in the midst of us. God delights to reveal himself when His people are next to each other, loving one another, lifting their hearts and voices in praise to Him.
See you Sunday at the GCT Outpost, Steve
1 Peter 2:4-5 As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house (outpost), to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
