Bear Fruit

November 18, 2022
Church family: What is God’s purpose for you today in whatever you are doing? Even right this second? Every day, in every moment, in every situation God desires that you would “bear fruit” for Him (Romans 7:4). You have been released from the shackles of slavery to the law, sin and death so that from your heart, by the presence and power of the Holy Spirit, you will bear fruit for the Creator of this universe. Therefore, your day today has great purpose for God as you bear fruit.

How do you bear fruit today? Fruit is simply taking everything that is on your schedule today like: working, playing, parenting, being a wife, being a husband, relaxing, communicating, serving, singing, praying, eating and drinking, and doing them as unto the Lord for His glory not your own. All of what you do is to be fruit “for God.” All that you do is to prove the excellence of Christ by living your life filled with the fruit of righteousness for the glory and praise of God (Phil. 1:9-11).

What does "fruit for God" look like? When you love difficult people who are unloving you are bearing fruit for God. When you remain joyful in the middle of hardships, sufferings and disappointments you are bearing fruit for God. When you remain hopeful in times of turmoil you are bearing fruit for God. When you experience peace in the midst of a secularizing culture knowing God is still on His throne, you are bearing fruit for God. When you are patient in the middle of circumstances that have gone off the rails, you are bearing fruit for God. When you choose to be kind to those who are disrespectful and mean to you, you are bearing fruit for God. When you are gentle to those who are loud and obnoxious you are bearing fruit for God. When you are faithful to others in their time of need you are bearing fruit for God. When you live a self-controlled life in a world that is out of control you are bearing fruit for God.

As you bear fruit for God, your friends, family, neighbors, coworkers and everyday strangers will also be blessed by that fruit. Your life becomes a display of God’s character through the way in which you live your life. Do you see how much you matter in the kingdom of God? You are a tree in the redeemer’s orchard to bless this world through the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

See you Sunday, with some bear fruit, Steve
