What is True of Him is True of You

Church Family: Do you think much about your union with Christ? You have been taken out of Adam, removed from the kingdom and reign of sin, and now you are IN Christ! Every blessing and every promise that you have received through salvation is because you are united with Christ, being one with Christ (Romans 6:3-5).
Union with Christ is one of the epic truths of Christianity that we so easily forget. Paul says it like this in Romans 6, you were baptized into Christ, His death, His burial and His resurrection. Right now, presently, you are in Christ and all of the accomplishments of Christ are yours! You are completely righteous in Him now. What is true of Him is true of You. Delivered from every spot and wrinkle and sin.

Being united with Christ, you do not hope to be forgiven. You do not hope that one day you will be able to satisfy the demands of the Law and to stand before God. These are present realities for every believer. You have already satisfied the law in Christ. You have been brought from death to life in Christ. You are already dead to sin. You are already dead to the Law. You are already dead to the wrath of God. You have already escaped all condemnation. All of this is because of your unity with Christ. What is true of Christ is also true of you who is in Christ.
Are you in Christ? Our loving God wants you to embrace this truth of your union with Christ. He wants you to rejoice in the truth that all that is true of Christ is true of you. You are without spot or wrinkle united with Christ. You have been given complete assurance and hope that all of God’s promises are true and “Yes” in Him. Nothing can separate you from the love of Christ. You have already conquered death in Christ. Death in not to be feared because of your union with Christ into His death and resurrection (Hebrews 2:14-15). Your experience is the same as Christ, victorious over sin and death, resurrected and present with the Heavenly Father.
So now what? Being united with Christ, immersed into Him, you must not go on living the life you once lived because you are no longer the person you once were in Adam. You are a new creation in Christ, united with Him. So you also must consider yourselves dead to sin and alive to God in Christ Jesus. Walk in the newness of life that is only available in Christ (Romans 6:5, 11). What is true of Him is true of you - live like it.
