Not even a hint of sexual immorality, impurity, or greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.

April 13, 2018
Hey GCT:  Last week we looked at Ephesians 5:1-2 and the great sweet-smelling principles of the Christian life.  If we simply do 5:1-2, nothing can defeat us as a child of God.  We get total access to our Father in heaven with perfect protection as an heir having everything we will ever need.  As we live in 5:1-2, God looks on us as a sweet smelling aroma… and then here comes 5:3-7.  We are reminded that there is a side of our faith that is the “don’t do this” side of faith.  Ephesians 5:1-2, says “do this” and 5:3–7, says “don’t do this.”  Paul is very clear that if our faith refuses to follow through with the “don’ts” we will not inherit the kingdom of God (5:5) and proves that our faith is not one that imitates God.

This Sunday we are going to look at the command for us as imitators of God to not have any hint of sexual immorality or impurity.  We are told that even in this hyper-sexualized world that sexual immorality and impurity is to not be named amongst us.  To understand how this grieves our Lord we are going to spend some looking at biblical sexual morality so that we can more clearly see why and how sexual immorality grieves our God who calls us to be holy as He is holy while enjoying a biblical sexual mandate.  I promise to keep this rated PG by putting together simple systematic biblical truths.  I really look forward to worshipping with you Sunday!  Love you in Christ - Steve

Ephesians 5:3  But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.
